Cut and sew the lining before you dye, if you dye then cut it will be difficult to line up where the dye transitions into the other color. I patterned the lining with muslin on my dressform, though you could probably find a similar pattern through McCalls or Butterick.
I made a short time lapse video of the dying process, it took a lot of trial and error on swatches before I got it down. Needless to say, this caused a ton of anxiety and stress, I didn't want to ruin almost $200 in fabric. So I spent a little extra time making swatches than I should have, just to work the nerves out haha.
The sleeves were gathered to forearm length. I attached elastic bands covered in fabric to go around the upper arm, and a snap along the cuff to fasten it. The "sleeve" is not sewn together to create an actual sleeve, it mostly drapes over the arms. There is an invisible zipper on the back seam which is covered nicely by the pleating, and the halter strap is fastened by a dress hook.
